William John Wood (1877-1954) CPE
William John Wood was born just north of Ottawa in 1877. He received some artistic instruction in Toronto and Boston before working at the Temiskaming Herald, a Northern Ontario newspaper. Moving to Orillia, Ontario, he met artist Franklin Carmichael, through which he gained contact to other Group of Seven artists, who encouraged him in his art. Wood’s work is held at the Art Gallery of Ontario and the National Gallery of Canada.
