Stephen (ESPO) Powers (b. 1968)

Stephen Powers, also known by Exterior Surface Painting Outreach or ESPO, is an American contemporary artist. Powers was raised in Philadelphia, where he studied at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and the University of the Arts. Powers got his artistic start doing graffiti pieces; his graffiti was controversial and included pieces that appeared to be legitimate advertisements or painting abandoned shop fronts in daylight. Powers eventually moved form graffiti to become a full-time studio artist. Powers has exhibited at many events, including Deitch Projects (New York), the 49th Venice Biennale (Venice), Apex Art (New York), Brazilian Cultural Pavilion (São Paulo), Art In The Streets (Los Angeles), and elsewhere.
