Collection: Marc Chagall

Marc Chagall (1887-1985)

Marc Chagall was a renown Belarusian-French artist, considered in his time to be a pioneer of modern art and figurative painting. "When Matisse dies", Pablo Picasso is reported to have said in the 1950s, "Chagall will be the only painter left who understands what colour really is." Chagall's work is held within the collections of the Palais Garnier in Paris, the Metropolitan Opera of New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, and many other institutions.
