John McPherson Ross

John McPherson Ross (1850-1924)

John McPherson Ross was born in Inverness, Scotland. He grew up in Toronto where he studied painting, eventually establishing a studio in Leslieville. Ross was known for his portraits and newspaper illustrations that accompanied his own articles. Ross also executed many landscapes of Toronto; a number of his works are digitized within the archive of the Toronto Public Library.
