John L. Byrne (1905-1975) CPE

John L. Byrne was born in Ireland in 1905. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 13 and began his training with John Russell, later continuing under John Phillips and Norman Rockwell. Byrne traveled in western Canada, painting the Rockies and working on both landscape and figure painting. Byrne was a member of the CPE (Society of Canadian Painter-Etchers and Engravers) exhibited with the RCA (Royal Canadian Academy of Arts) and OSA (Ontario Society of Artists).
