James Edward Gordaneer (1933-2016) RCA, OSA

James Edward Gordaneer was born in Toronto in 1933. Beginning to paint seriously at the age of 19, he attended the Doon School of Fine Arts in the summers between 1953 to 1954. Gordaneer continued his training at the Ontario College of Art and also at the Artists’ Workshop in Toronto. Gordaneer later taught at the Doon School and Central Technical School in Toronto, among other institutions. Gordaneer was a member of the RCA (Royal Canadian Academy of Art), as well as the OSA (Ontario Society of Artists) and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. Gordaneer’s work is held within the collections at Sir George Williams University in Montreal and the Sarnia Public Library (Ontario).
