Jack Lee Cowin (1947-2014)
Jack Cowin was an American-Canadian artist born in Indianapolis, Indiana. Cowin received his arts education in printmaking at Indiana University, afterwards continuing his studies at the University of Illinois. Cowin came to Regina in 1971 and began teaching at the University of Saskatchewan. Cowin was a passionate outdoorsman and fly-fisher, and this interest is reflected in his work, which often feature fish and birds. Cowin’s work is represented within the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Indianapolis Museum of Modern Art, the Chicago Art Institute, Hokkaido Museum, among other institutions.
