Gertrude Eleanor Spurr Cutts (1858-1941) RCA

Gertrude Eleanor Spurr Cutts was a Canadian artist born in Yorkshire, England, which is where Cutts initially began her artistic career, exhibiting with the Royal Society of British Artists as well as the Society of Women Artists. Cutts immigrated to Toronto in 1890 and continued working in a variety of mediums, including oil, watercolour, and pen and ink. Cutts’ work is held within the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, and the Robert McLaughlin Gallery.
