Frederick Sproston Challener, also known as F.S. Challener, was an English-born Canadian artist and muralist. Challener was notably commissioned to create murals for some of Canada’s key buildings and institutions, including the Russell Theatre in Ottawa, Toronto’s King Edward Hotel, Toronto City Hall, and the Royal Alexandra Theatre (Toronto). His work is held within the collections at the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Government of Ontario Art Collection, and the Robert McLaughlin Gallery.
