Frederick Henry Brigden (1871-1956) RCA, OSA

Frederick Henry Brigden was an English-born Canadian artist. A year after Brigden was born his family immigrated to Toronto, where his father founded the Toronto Engraving Company with Henry Beale. Brigden Jr. later inherited the business and employed various notable artists including Charles Comfort. Brigden was initially interested in the English tradition of watercolour, but changed his style following his first trips into the Canadian north. His work is held within the collections of the National Gallery of Canada and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
