Edwy Francis Cooke (1926-2000)

Edwy Francis Cooke was a Toronto-born Canadian artist. Cooke studied at the Ontario College of Art under Charles Comfort, Yvonne McKague Housser, and Grace Coombs. Cooke later became involved with the Hart House Sketch Club and befriended a number of notable Canadian artists, including Harold Town and Carl Schaefer. In 1949, Cooke won a graduate scholarship to study at the University of Iowa. He returned to Toronto in 1951 to teach at Central Tech and the University of Toronto for a few years before travelling Europe on a grant from Canada Council, later settling in Montreal and teaching at Sir George Williams University.
