Edgar Briggs Sisley (1900-1983) CPE

Edgar Briggs Sisley was born on January 1, 1900, in Toronto. He studied dentistry and graduated in 1926, practicing privately and for the Ontario Department of Health until his retirement in 1967. Sisley became interested in etching and attended night classes at the Ontario College of Art, Central Technical School, and was involved with the sketch club at University of Toronto’s Hart House. He became a member of the CPE in 1944 and served as vice-president from 1948-51. He later lived in Oakville. His work is held at the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Hart House, London Regional Arts & Historical Museum, and the Royal Ontario Museum.
