Augustin Filipovic

Augustin Filipovic (1931-1998) 

Augustin Filipovic was a Canadian sculptor and painter born in Davor, Yugoslavia. He studied in Zagreb, later moving to Rome to attend the Academy of Fine Arts. In Rome, Filipovic taught classes and held many one-man shows. In 1959, Filipovic moved to Canada, where he had his first one-man show the following year in Toronto at Gallery Moos, during which the Art Gallery of Ontario acquired one of his works. Filipovic later became a resident artist at the University of Toronto's School of Architecture and taught at the Central Technical School.
